Serene Green

I can't believe how many stencils are on the market these days, it's overwhelming. But, they are versatile and fun to play with.  When I first saw this stencil I knew exactly what I wanted to design. I have the Cheery Lynn Pair of Ferns die which looks very similar to the Garden Fronds stencil from Memory Box.

Using a light green ink and a mini blending tool I stenciled the background. Next I die cut the fern fronds from a darker green and added them to the card along with some white twine.

I created the pretty flower using Spellbinders Blooms One die set and then lightly sponged the tips of the flower. After adding the flower to the card I attached a glitter dot.

I hope you have been enjoying all the DT members inspiration from DRU!!! Don't forget our Dies R Us Challenge .  Lots of fun and prizes!!!  Don't be left out!

DRU May Flower Challenge...

Hi, Robin here, I designed this card for our May challenge at Dies R Us. I fell in love with the watercolor look card stock, called Sunshine by Crate Paper, and just HAD to make something with it!  I used two flower sets from Elizabeth Craft Designs, Big Flower Set 1 and Flower Set 1 to create the large flower. I'm always combining die sets to create my own flowers and elements.
My "go to" greenery dies are from Penny Black and Memory Box, I love the look of differently shaped leaves.  Oh, I have other leaf dies but I tend to use this combination a lot.  A simple sentiment from Hero Arts was added to a home made banner and popped up using glue dots. To finish the card I used a hand colored button with a twine bow and added two dragonflies from Penny Black.

I hope you are enjoying our Dies R Us challenge blog. When you've finished checking out our DT creations, please join us by posting your own challenge project at the DRU Challenge blog!

Fabulous Sunflower

With all our hot weather lately (in Southern California) the sunflowers have started to grow and bud; that's where my inspiration came from for this card  I chose the Bountiful Sunflower and it's companion die Bountiful Sunflower Background by Poppystamps to create my card.

I used a mottled green paper for the stems, leaves and outer edges of the flower. A bright yellow polka dot paper was used with the background die.

Since I may have a little OCD (OK, maybe more than a little) I decided to inlay ALL the sunflower seeds! You certainly don't need to go that far, LOL. It wasn't as difficult as you might think and it added a bit of dimension BUT I would not try this if you need a card in a hurry.  Placing a piece of dark paper behind would work just as well.

The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions From Me To You stamp AND die set. This set includes four sentiments, two designs and the die! This is a GREAT value! I love the included die which can be used with other sentiments you may have.

Until next week…thanks for stopping by,

Flower Power

Sometimes we just need a quick card and this card does the trick! The die I used, called Mod Flower Background, is made by Poppystamps. This die caught my eye because of it's many uses, it makes a fast and simple card AND you could use the die cut as a stencil!

The fun part of this design was picking the colors to go behind the die cut. I used my circle punches to make it easier to put together but it would be just as easy to hand cut.

The sentiment, from Hero Arts, is stamped on a homemade banner; the addition of Gem embellishments, also from Hero Arts, adds a bit of sparkle.

Thanks for visiting...
