Same Stamp

Happy Thursday everyone! Robin here with my weekly inspiration for Dies R Us. The image is the same Penny Black stamp I used last week but I created a totally different look with a simple technique.

To create the background I used a painters tape technique! I included a Youtube link in case you are interested in using this technique which is a really fun and simple way to make backgrounds. I stamped the Penny Black image with black ink and cut the word "happy" from card stock.  The Happy is a die from Avery Elle-ments Simply Said, the word is layered on to a vellum banner and attached to the card using clear foam tape. A simple sentiment was stamped under the banner and I added some Candi embellishments to finish the card.

Until next week…thanks for stopping by,

June Wedding

June seems to be THE month for weddings and it just so happens it's the Dies R Us Challenge Blog theme for Design Team B.  Dies R Us has a twice monthly challenge with great themes and, if your design is chosen, a gift certificate to spend at DRU!!!

My card was inspired by the Spellbinders Gold Elements die set, which I used for the main background, it's just beautiful!  For the flowers and foliage I used Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One, Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms and Spellbinders Foliage Two.  The sentiment is stamped on a label die from the Spellbinders Radiant Rectangles set.

Red, White & Blue

I'm giving you a heads up…the 4th of July is just around the corner.  Bar-b-que ready? Suntan lotion? Umbrella? Beach mat and toys? Don't forget the marshmallows!!!

I love surprising friends with a card on the 4th; it's completely unexpected! The 4th is probably one of the least card giving holidays, but why not?  My card base is made from two embossed panels. I then added Poppystamps Superstar Border cut from white card stock.

The easy rosette is made using Sizzix Mini Paper Rosettes die and some super cute polka dot paper.  Simple embellishments, which include a metal star brad, chunky red, white and blue bakers twine and mini crystals finished the card.

I hope you enjoyed this card! Have a safe and sane 4th! Thank's for stopping by,

Simply Made Class

I have been having fun playing with Distress inks and using different techniques. This card, I call Simply Made, was designed around the Avery Elle die set Elle-ments Pinked. You should see this set of dies, so many elements to choose from to design your cards and the edges are pinked! This card is also my post for my weekly inspiration at Dies R Us, your on line super store for dies!
I started with embossing a Penny Black image, then used Distress inks for a blended background. Then over stamped with a JustRite background stamp using Tea Dye Distress ink. After wiping the excess ink from the image, I cut the image out using the largest die from the set. The smallest of the included dies was stamped with a sentiment from Avery Elle "Thanks a Bunch" stamp set.  The "Thanks a Bunch" stamp set has several sentiments that are the perfect size for that little die!

If you live in Southern California just stop in at Stamp Fever to purchase your dies and stamp sets!  If not, just go to Dies R Us for a GREAT selection of dies! Plus DRU has free shipping when you spend $35 or more!

Until next week…thanks for stopping by,

4th of July!

Happy Friday everyone! Robin here with a patriotic card for the 4th of July!  Although Memorial Day is the official start of summer in the US, I never feel it's summer until the 4th of July!   We have a weather pattern here in Southern California that usually shows up in May and June called a marine layer. The marine layer makes the days overcast so we call it "May Grey or June Gloom".  By July the June Gloom is gone and it's bright and sunny all day and we are ready for bar-b-ques, get togethers and such.

My card started with stamping the Graphic Greeting Patriotic stamp, from Taylored Expressions onto kraft paper.  I then cut out the stamped image using Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles and sponged the edges. After making my card base from red, white and blue patterned paper I added the Border Carnivale die cut, from Cheery Lynn and a canvas ribbon.  The stamped image was embellished with star brads.  TIP: The white star brad didn't quite match the off white in the card so I colored it with a Copic marker for a better match!

Until next week…thanks for stopping by,

Dad's Day!

If it's June, Father's Day is around the corner! This is a great masculine card for Father's Day, a birthday or any special "male" occasion.

I layered a plaid background paper with a frame cut from Kraft paper using Spellbinders Nestabiliities - Large Labels and then added the tags. Both tags were cut with Taylored Expression's Tag Stacklets 1.  After sponging the edges of the large and small tag with Distress Ink, I added the metal looking grommet from Taylored Expressions Tag Reinforcements set. The small tag was stamped with a sentiment and added to the large tag.  I spelled the word "DAD" using Memory Box Parker Upper Alphabet Set, lightly sponged the edges of the letters and added them to the tag.

The card was finished with an antique rick rack from May Arts, a simple grosgrain ribbon and some metal gems. After adding three metal gears, from Tim Holtz, the tag was attached with heavy twine and foam dimensionals.
